Intensive agriculture has become a popular planting method for Chinese farmers, especially for vegetable farmers. Although productivity has been increased dramatically, severe environmental problems, such as deconstructed soil structure and polluted ground and surface water, arise meanwhile from improper use of fertilizers, pesticides and water in intensive agriculture.

Therefore, intensive agriculture has contributed to environmental pollution, which arouses great concern among Chinese people, even Chinese government.
